The nineteenth edition of the Trophée Clairefontaine of Sailing Champions is being prepared at Valencia (Spain) in the Marina Real Juan Carlos 1st, i.e. inside the harbour which hosted the competitors of the 2007 America's Cup and more recently the F1 European Grand Prix. The Trophée Clairefontaine de Valencia will be raced on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September on this world-famous and natural nautical stadium. Eight great champions will be racing.

It is official, the nineteenth edition of the Trophée Clairefontaine des Champions de Voile will take place in the Marina Real Juan Carlos 1er, i.e. inside the port which has welcomed the base of the competitors for the America’s Cup 2007. The Trophée Clairefontaine de Valencia will be raced on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 September on this natural nautical stadium known worldwide. Eight great champions will be present.

Yesterday, Jean-Marie Nusse, Chairman of the Papeteries de Clairefontaine (Clairefontaine Stationery), handed out on the Morbihan Stand of the Paris International Boat Show the prizes of the 18th Trophée Clairefontaine which was held last September at La Trinité-sur-Mer (Brittany). Five invitations were then made official in anticipation of the 19th edition which will take place between Thursday 4th and Sunday 7th of September 2008, in a yet undefined nautical stadium.

A word from the champion of champions, Michel Desjoyeaux: "Everything went well. From Thursday, the racing was animated and we knew that this Trophée Clairefontaine was going to be a difficult one. We started the day well with two victories, which made us feel confident. Then, we got ourselves into a sticky situation. We ended the day better on the two last Runs, just enough to win them. It was a really close finish! As is often the case, the whole trophy hung on the last Run. At the finishing line, we still didn't know whether we had actually won. So it ended well and that's perfect!

By winning three legs out of the nine raced since yesterday, Michel Desjoyeaux has won the 18th Trophée Clairefontaine des Champions de Voile organized at the sailing stadium in La Trinité-sur-Mer. This is his fourth Trophée Clairefontaine victory, following those of 2001, 2003 and 2004.

The eighteenth Trophée Clairefontaine des Champions de Voile started this afternoon at La Trinité-sur-Mer, in the harbour turned into a sailing stadium especially for the occasion. Eight Runs were raced in two hours for the Rhodia Warm-up. With just one victory, but good regularity, Loïck Peyron won the race in extremis ahead of Franck Cammas, equalling Michel Desjoyeaux in points. For his first catamaran racing experience, Nicolas Troussel was to lead the pursuing group.

It's back to the helm at La Trinité-sur-Mer (Morbihan) for the 18th Trophée Clairefontaine des Champions de Voile, which will be raced till Sunday at the sailing stadium in the harbour and in the Bay of Quiberon. The eight guest champions and their crews were all on time at midday when their names were called, and to celebrate the occasion it is a sunny day with a clear blue sky and a light breeze. So, summer is back in La Trinité.

With a third title safely in the bag, Michel Desjoyeaux (Foncia) has to be considered a safe bet for the XVIIIth Trophée Clairefontaine des Champions de Voile starting Thursday 30 August to Sunday 2 September at La Trinité-sur-Mer. His win in the Solitaire Afflelou Le Figaro single-handed race comes after an impressive first place in the Trophée SNSM 2007 with his new IMOCA 60 prototype on its first outing.

A talented young single-handed racer has been invited to take up the last place to be filled at the XVIIIth Trophée Clairefontaine des Champions de Voile which will be raced from Thursday 30 August to Sunday 2 September at La Trinité-sur-Mer (Morbihan, Brittany). His name is Nicolas Troussel, the recent winner of the Belle-Ile - Marie-Galante single-handed transatlantic race (BPE Trophy) last spring, after also having won the Solitaire Afflelou Le Figaro single-handed race with panache.

Nearly two months after the XVIIe Trophée Clairefontaine des Champions de Voile that was sailed in La Trinité-sur-Mer (Brittany) won by Franck Cammas in front of Jérémie Beyou - for his first participation - and Loïck Peyron, the line-up of the eight skippers invited to the traditional champions meeting, September 1st and September 2nd 2007 is taking shape, before the fore coming big events: Route du Rhum - La Banque Postale 2006 and America's Cup 2007. Franck Cammas, winner: “Jérémie Beyou’s option under spinnaker was decisive. Especially since he had sailed quite nicely all day, but this ten-meter option he took did not work out well for him. In 2000, my victory was easier. Today we had to wait until the last minute to know the winner. I am sure sailing on multihull 60’ is advantageous when taking part in the Trophée Clairefontaine. But most of all, you need to be in total cohesion with your crew to win. Therefore I am very happy to share this victory with Stève Ravussin and Pierre Pennec.”

Thanks to three victorious legs out of the nine ones sailed since yesterday morning, and thanks to a nice regularity during the entire weekend, Franck Cammas is the winner of the XVIIth Trophée Clairefontaine des Champions de Voile, that took place on the nautical stadium of La Trinité-sur-Mer. It is his second victory of the event out of eight participations, his first victory being in 2000 in the Cap d’Agde.

Friday 1st September 2006 - The seventeenth Trophée Clairefontaine des Champions de Voile has started this afternoon in the harbour of La Trinité-sur-Mer that became a real sailing stadium. Eight Runs were sailed within two hours during the Warm up Rhodia. With two victories and three times second, Loïck Peyron sheered of the win.
